What does USPS stating ‘awaiting delivery scan’ mean?

The message ‘Awaiting delivery scan’ by USPS means that the package is in the process of delivery. It indicates that the item or mail is yet to be scanned. USPS scans packages on a regular basis, on the floor and even while processing. They do this via the tracking number and the address of the recipient because the product/ item details are readily available to them. • Alert: If you receive a tracking status “Alert”, it means that there is some issue with your package. If you received your order on time then you can ignore this message, but if you haven’t received your package, and you find this status on your tracking page, then you need to read the complete details of the tracking information and immediately inform the customer service to get help. 
• Delivered: It clearly means that the package has reached the customer and is successfully delivered. If you see the status ‘Delivered’ but if you haven’t received the package yet, and you will receive your order within 1 to 2 business days.
• Status Not Available: If your tracking status displays ‘Status Not Available’ it must be that you have entered the wrong tracking number, it might also mean that there are no updates for this tracking number.

Recently, new information from  Salt Lake City coming from Fox 13 Salt Lake City, explains that the managers allegedly forced the USPS employees to provide false delivery reports and keep up with the on-time delivery rates. Now although this is just one example from one area and can be considered anecdotal at best, anonymous employees stated that the delivery rates correlate directly with managers’ salaries. The customers at Salt Lake City voiced out their concerns that the packages which were marked ‘delivered’ reached 2 to 3 days later.

If you received the notification ‘Awaiting Delivery Scan’ on a non-working day or any federal holidays then you need to wait for another business day. If it has been more than 24 hours since you received this mail then you can contact your nearest local post office and apply for a search request and you will receive a confirmation mail within 2 to 3 business days.

Sometimes your package may be lost due to a lot of packages. You may receive them within 24hours or the next business day.
