USPS – Awaiting delivery Scan

USPS awaiting Delivery Scan

Looking forward to the Scan

What does USPS stating ‘awaiting delivery scan’ mean?

The message ‘Awaiting delivery scan’ by USPS means that the package is in the process of delivery. It indicates that the item or mail is yet to be scanned. USPS scans packages on a regular basis, on the floor and even while processing. They do this via the tracking number and the address of the recipient because the product/ item details are readily available to them. Confirmation mails are sent regarding the tracking details. Therefore, Awaiting delivery scan might not be so tough.

’Awaiting delivery scan’ could also mean that the package was delivered without scanning by mistake or that the package isn’t delivered at all. Every time a product or package is rerouted they are scanned and once the scanning is done it is processed for delivery.

USPS tracking status

USPS tracking is one of the features in USPS.com as it recognizes the necessity of the customers tracking their packages and mails when shipped. To track the packages, a tracking number is required. If you lose your USPS tracking number then you need to contact USPS and ask them to provide the tracking number to you again. The status itself will switch from “Awaiting delivery scan” to something else.

Different types of statuses you receive while expecting a delivery

  • Pre-shipment: Pre-shipment this is the status where your package has arrived at the facility, it has been scanned but is yet to be shipped to your local post office.
  • Accepted: If the tracking status displays ‘Accepted’ it means that the package or mail item has reached the postal service physically, this means that the mail item is packed and ready for the next process.
  • In Transit: If the status you see is “In Transit” it means that your package is on the way to reach the delivery address. The following phrase “In Transit, Arriving On Time” means that your package has been delivered on the expected date or time. “In Transit, Arriving Late” means that your package will be delivered later than the expected date or time.
  • Alert: If you receive a tracking status “Alert”, it means that there is some issue with your package. If you received your order on time then you can ignore this message, but if you haven’t received your package, and you find this status on your tracking page, then you need to read the complete details of the tracking information and immediately inform the customer service to get help.
  • Delivered: It clearly means that the package has reached the customer and is successfully delivered. If you see the status ‘Delivered’ but if you haven’t received the package yet, and you will receive your order within 1 to 2 business days.
  • Status Not Available: If your tracking status displays ‘Status Not Available’ it must be that you have entered the wrong tracking number, it might also mean that there are no updates for this tracking number.
